Rader Programs Staff Biographies

Rader Programs uses an inter-disciplinary approach consisting of the following staff to address the multi-faceted nature of Eating Disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia and Compulsive Overeating:

Administration:

Jonathan Rader, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Rader received his doctorate from La Jolla University and has been treating eating disorders since 1985. His work on the relationship between sexual abuse and eating disorders has been documented in eating disorders journals and he has been interviewed as an expert on eating disorders by numerous magazines and news programs.

Jay Kapitz, C.P.A. - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Kapitz has been a Controller and Chief Financial Officer in the eating disorders field since 1985. He is also responsible for coordination of information and telecommunication services for Rader Programs. Jay is proud to have received his bachelor's degree from the University of California Los Angeles.

Daniel Rozdial, M.A., M.F.T - Clinical Director
Daniel obtained his M.A in Counseling Psychology at National University and is currently a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. Daniel has been a patient advocate for access to the most appropriate eating disorders treatment with nearly 15 years of experience in the health care industry.

Katrina Cape - BSN - Director of Nursing
Katrina received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia where she received top honors. She has worked in both community and ICU settings since graduating in 2004. As an alumni of Rader Programs, Katrina has been in recovery from Anorexia since 2007, and has dedicated her life to helping those who suffer with eating disorders. Using her experiences as well as her education, Ms. Cape is able to relate to each patient on a personal level, and help facilitate each individual’s path toward health and recovery.

Kathi Sirignano - Program Coordinator
Ms. Sirignano coordinates all administrative aspects of the program. Kathi acts as a liaison between the program staff and the eating disordered patient in order to ensure the highest level of care possible. Sirignano has been on the staff since 2004. Kathi graduated from the University of Phoenix with her AA in Health Care Administration.

Medical Staff:

Nomi J. Fredrick, M.D. - Medical Director
Dr. Fredrick is a graduate of the New York University School of Medicine. Nomi completed both her residency and fellowship in psychiatry at the University of California Los Angeles. She specializes in psychopharmacology. In addition to her work at Rader Programs, Dr. Fredrick does research in psychoneuro-endocrinology.

Manju Beatty - M.D. - Psychiatrist
Dr. Beatty graduated from State University of New York at Buffalo residency program in Psychiatry. She also has extensive experience working with children and the forensic population. Her area of expertise along with eating disorders include treatment of postpartum depression.

Ms. Kelly J. Hengler - Physician Assistant (PA)
Ms.Kelly graduated the University of Southern California, Keck Medical School Physician Assistant Program in 1999 and is a licensed PA in the state of California. She focuses on patient-centered care and "meeting the patient where they are" in the health continuum. Ms. Hengler's post-graduate pursuits included completion of CA ADP (Alcohol and Drug Program) academic program requirements and additional 1,800 internship hours for Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Clinical experience includes intensities in Primary Care, Women's Health, and Internal Medicine with a focus on complex chronic care management through care-team models.

Assessment:

Robin Steiner, M.S., M.F.T. - Director of Intake and Assessment
As Assessment coordinator Robin conducts consultation sessions and counsels patients and their families towards treatment. She interfaces with counseling staff as well as business services to insure delivery of insurance information to prospective patients prior to admission.

Robin attended SDSU/UCSD combined Graduate program where she received her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. She has since been involved with psychiatric care and the treatment of eating disorders for over 25 years. Robin ran a private practice in Beverly Hills, where she specialized in treating eating disordered patients with emphasis on family dynamics. She then went on to become Program Director and family therapist for H.O.P.E. Institute, a pioneer residential program in the field of eating disorder treatment. Robin has been an instrumental part of Rader Program's staff for well over a decade. She continues to assess patients and families towards admission or referral, as deemed clinically necessary.

Vanessa Moreno - Admissions and Discharge Coordinator
Vanessa Moreno is a Licensed Vocational Nurse, who graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Career Care Institute in 2010. Mrs. Moreno has been employed with Pacific Shores Hospital for over four years. Her job is to create a stress free experience with the admission and discharge process of each of our clients.


Counselors:

Sally Staben, M.A., M.F.T. - Individual Therapist
Ms. Staben received her masters in Marriage Family Therapy at California Lutheran University. Sally has been working with eating disordered clients since 1998. She has more been in recovery from Anorexia and Bulimia herself since 1997. Staben also specializes in the treatment of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence towards women and children.

Malcom Stanislaus, M.F.T. - Individual Therapist
Mr. Stanislaus received his Master's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. He has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. He has specialized training in Shame Reduction methodology, Mood Disorders (depression and anxiety), Emotional Recovery from Substance abuse (Stage 2 Recovery), General Life Adjustment, and Cross-cultural issues. Stanislaus is friendly and compassionate with a no-nonsense approach. He is able to allow the complete disclosure by clients of their thoughts, feelings, and concerns in order to find the solutions they need throughout the full spectrum of their lives. He is dedicated to their full awakening of potential.

Elizabeth Hollon, MFTI - Group Therapist
Elizabeth graduated with her master’s degree from California State University Northridge. She specializes in the etiology and treatment of eating disorders, substance dependence, anxiety, major depressive disorders, and trauma. She provides individual, group, and family therapy at Pacific Shores Hospital and encourages the healing of the whole person through an individualized therapeutic plan. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Neuropsychology at Fielding Graduate University.

Rachel Cantrell, MFTI - Individual Therapist
Rachel Cantrell is a marriage and family therapist intern who has completed all of her internship hours and is sitting for licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Rachel received her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. Rachel has extensive experience working with those who suffer with eating disorders. She has worked at several different levels of care, including the inpatient treatment level, intensive outpatient level, and the private practice level. Rachel is a board member of the Central Coast IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals) and a member of AED (Academy for Eating Disorders). Rachel enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.

JJ Rogers received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute. He is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and has completed the required hours for the licensing exams. He uses a humanistic experiential approach acquired through extensive training in Integrative Body Psychotherapy. Calling on his own recovery from compulsive overeating, he combines of his experience, strength and hope with the use empathy and attunement, to provide his clients with a corrective emotional experience.

Dietary:

Ilana Wolfson - Registered Dietitian
Ms. Wolfson is a graduate of Wayne State University, Detroit, MI where she received her Bachelor's in Nutrition and Dietetics. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at Henry Ford Hospital. She is a member of the American, California, and Coastal Tri-Counties Dietetics Associations. As a Registered Dietitian she has worked with various populations, including eating disorders, in both clinical in- and outpatient settings, providing both individual and group counselling. Ilana has struggled with overweight since 2003 and hopes to help others in the process of creating a healthy relationship with food.

Exercise:

Cindy Malecky, M.B.A. - Exercise Counselor
Ms. Malecky is originally from Connecticut but has called Southern California her home since 1986. Cindy received her Bachelors in Science from Boston University and subsequently earned her Masters from the University of Phoenix. Malecky is a Certified Health Fitness Instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine with specialized training in Pilate’s for rehabilitation. She enjoys helping individuals achieve their fitness goals.

Kate Nash - Nia Technique Instructor
Kate has been teaching Nia Technique classes for over 10 years. She is a Certified Nia Black Belt Instructor and owns her own Center for wholistic wellness in Ventura, Ca - Ventura Nia Center. Nia is a Body*Mind*Emotions*Spirit movement practice which fuses Martial Arts, Dance Arts and Healing Arts together to create a fun, expressive and healing movement program for all ages and abilities.

Outreach:

Nyssa Dunning - Marketing Coordinator, Assistant Controller and Insurance Verifications Coordinator
Ms. Dunning has worked for The Rader Programs for 8 years. Nyssa enjoys working on a variety of tasks throughout the program; including insurance and benefit verifications, coordinating marketing events and staff and working as a liaison for The Rader Programs and Pacific Shores Hospital. Nyssa has helped develop and implement the Community Outreach & Alumni Coordinator positions within the marketing department.

Melissa DeHart - Alumni Coordinator/M.H.W.
Melissa DeHart, Alumni Coordinator, connects with our patients as soon as they enter our program and then ensures that she maintains that connection though treatment and even after treatment is completed. This position is very near and dear to her heart as she is a former Alum of Rader and considers herself a survivor after struggling many years with an Eating Disorder. Melissa truly understands this disease and is able to see the patient's point of view. She is also a public advocate, motivational speaker, and blogs for our website. Her goal is to inspire and offer those who suffer find hope.

Business Services:

Leah Lucchese - Director of Business Services
Leah Lucchese has served as a patient advocate in the medical field for over a decade. With an expert understanding of Mental Health Laws, Medical Policies and Insurance Billing practices, she and her staff are here to handle the “business” of insurance so our patients can focus on the recovery process.
